Question:

How to turn on CA IDMS Server caidms.log trace file for ODBC diagnostic messages?

Answer:

In CA IDMS Server ODBC Administrator /System DSN/Log Options, turn on the caidms.log trace file for diagnostic messages to research IDMS Server problems.

Here's how to turn on the IDMS Server caidms.log trace file:

1. From the PC Start/Programs/CA/CA IDMS Server (32bit or 64bit Server), select ODBC Administrator

2. At the ODBC Data Source Administrator Panel; select the System DSN, IDMS Data Source, click CONFIGURE button.

3. Select LOG OPTIONS Panel.

4. Enter a log file name, typically CAIDMS.LOG.

5. Select APPEND and click the CLIENT TRACE options:

ODBC, SQL, DTS, DTS-CCI, DTS JCLI and UTIL

6. Click OK and EXIT...run the PC Application product (or the ODBC TEST).

The trace file, CAIDMS.LOG, should now be found in the PC Client directory, usually on the C drive:

C:\ProgramData\CA\CA IDMS Server\caidms.log

To turn it off, repeat steps 1-4, remove APPEND selection, then step 6. Yes, you can execute multiple Maintain Index in one job:
