"No guest OS heartbeats are being received." warning displayed on vMotion wizard even though actual VMware Tools status is running.

Issue/Introduction

Following warning displayed on vMotion wizard even though VMware Tools is running.

"No guest OS heartbeats are being received. Either the guest OS is not responding or VMware Tools is not configured correctly."

Environment

vCenter Server 7.0.0
vCenter Server 7.0.1
vCenter Server 7.0.2

Cause

When the vpxd service is restarted, the VMware Tools heartbeat status is initialized to gray and not updated until next status change.

Resolution

This issue is fixed in vCenter 7.0.3 and later.

vMotion can still proceed, even if the above warning is displayed.
