Issue/Introduction

 We are unable to open a probe in the Admin Console. Here is the ppm error:

Message: The probe provisioning service at probe address "/UIM_Domain/UIM_Hub/<hostname>/ppm" reported a failure. 
Resolution: Please review the PPM probe logs and resolve any issues before continuing. 
Error Code: MONS-025

You may also notice that the Primary hub (hub.exe) crashes and restarts as per the hub probe status / Windows events.

Environment

  • Release: DX UIM 20.4.* / 23.4 CU2
  • Component: ppm
  • This error may happen with any monitoring probe
  • Admin Console
  • Windows OS

Cause

  • ppm corruption

Resolution

Please follow these steps to resolve the error:

On the hub-robot where <probe> is deployed

  1. Rt-click and deactivate the ppm probe

  2. Wait for the port and PID to disappear

  3. Rt-click and delete the ppm probe

  4. Make sure the ppm folder is deleted on the filesystem under ~\Nimsoft\probes\service\

  5. Deploy the latest version of the ppm probe from the archive (Check to make sure the latest version of ppm has been deployed)

  6. Deploy the mps probe to Primary hub robot

  7. Clear the browser cache

  8. Try opening the <probe> configuration again using the Admin Console and it should work.

Additional Information

ppm error MONS-025 recently seen when trying to open the cdm or snmpcollector probe with the Admin Console.
