Issue/Introduction

Many of the releases in the VMware SD-WAN Release 5.x train are approaching the final phase of their Product Lifecycle and will eventually enter into their End of Support Life (EOSL).

This article covers Release trains 5.0.x, 5.1.x, 5.2.x, and 5.4.x.
Note: Release 5.3.x was a limited availability release and was replaced by 5.4.x. As a result, 5.3.x is not tracked for product lifecycle purposes.

Note: Release 5.2.3/5.2.4 are classified as Long Term Support releases and are subject to a different schedule. This includes not having an EOTG date like older releases as once they reach EOGS this is also the End of Support. For more information on the VeloCloud LTS policy see: VMware VeloCloud SD-WAN/SASE Long-Term Support Release (326448).

Impact after EOGS: For all deployments, no bug fixes or patches will be created, no security fixes or patches will be applied.

Recommended Action: If you are administering SD-WAN components using an affected release 5.x version, please upgrade to a recommended release listed in the KB article VMware SD-WAN Edge Software Versions: Recommended Releases. Upgrading to a supported software version ensures that you will maintain a full level of support.

What actions do I need to take if I am using an SD-WAN component that is using an affected Release 5.x.? 
If you are running an affected release 5.x version, please upgrade to a recommended release listed in the KB article VMware SD-WAN Edge Software Versions: Recommended Releases.

What is the impact to an SD-WAN component (Orchestrator, Gateway, or Edge) using an affected 5.x release after EOGS on a VeloCloud-hosted Orchestrator?
There is no adverse impact to any SD-WAN component using an affected Release 5.x that becomes EOGS. The component would continue to use the full SD-WAN service. The only impact is that a component using an EOGS release is ineligible for additional software or security fixes and patches. 

Can I create Support Requests for a system component using a Release 5.x that becomes EOTG?
No, VMware will no longer accept Support Requests relating to a Release 5.x version after it is EOTG per the schedule listed above. Customers and partners may continue to use information related to that release on our knowledge base and communities.
