Updating NTP configuration on Cloud Proxy for VCF Operations

Issue/Introduction

By following these steps, Cloud Proxy will be synchronized with the correct NTP servers, improving time accuracy across the environment.
Note that this is NOT applicable for the Aria Operations cluster, ONLY Cloud Proxies.

Environment

• Aria Operations 8.18.x
• VCF Operations 9.x

Resolution

Update the NTP configuration on the Cloud Proxy by following the steps below:

1. Create a snapshot without memory
2. Login to the vSphere Web Client
3. Power off the Cloud Proxy VM
4. Navigate to the Cloud Proxy VM
   Click the configure tab → select Settings →vApp Options.
5. Select the Key with the value ntp.server.list and click Set Value, then make the changes
6. The Cloud Proxy should retain the new NTP information even after rebooting

Additional Information

• Check the connectivity of the NTP server of the Cloud Proxy under the CP VM object metrics: 

  Aria Operations UI -> Inventory -> vRealize Operations Cloud Proxy -> Select the proxy -> Metrics Tab -> Metrics -> NTP

• To verify the NTP server status, establish a root SSH session on each Aria Operations node and execute the command : 

  ntpq -p
