Issue/Introduction

  1. The e2e_appmon probe installs correctly in the specified directory (e.g., D:\nimsoft\probes\application\e2e_appmon).
  2. However, the NimRecorder package incorrectly installs to C:\Program Files (x86)\nimsoft\e2e_scripting instead of D:\nimsoft\e2e_scripting.
  3. This causes issues due to restricted access rights in the C:\Program Files (x86) directory.

We can manually install NimRecorder in the correct directory, but an automated solution is needed.

To be able to work on our automation, we are requesting the below responses:

  1. Determine if the NimRecorder installer accepts a CLI parameter for the installation path.
  2. Requesting from us a new e2e_appmon probe package that correctly sets the NimRecorder installation path.

The goal is to ensure NimRecorder installs in the correct path under the NIM_ROOT directory, either through the e2e_appmon probe or via a silent installation process.

Environment

DX UIM 23.4 CU2

e2e_appmon: Any version.

Cause

Limitation.

Resolution

It is currently not possible to set the installation path for nim-recorder to a specified location through the e2e_appmon probe.

Additional Information

For workaround solution: you can set the NIM_ROOT environment variable in the system where the probe is going to deploy to the preferred installation path (e.g., D:\NimRecorder)
