vCenter Update fails with the error "Source machine version is 8 and this installer is 8.0"

Issue/Introduction

Applying a minor vCenter 8.0 update using the vCenter 8.0 iso installer produces the following error:

Source machine version is 8 and this installer is 8.0

Supported versions for upgrade are 6.7 and 7.0

Environment

vCenter Server 8.X

Cause

Minor updates to the vCenter appliance should be applied via patch ISO ending in "-FP.iso" , and cannot be applied with the upgrade iso installer.
