With the release of NSX 4.1.2.3, Broadcom has initiated the step of managing the behavior of the VMware vDefend Distributed Firewall, VMware vDefend Gateway Firewall, VMware Container Security with Antrea as a single product solution key that will unlock the product features.
The purpose of this KB article is to help customers understand the license keys that they will receive when purchasing vDefend Firewall.
Beginning NSX 4.1.2.3, there will be a single solution key for each offer. All component license keys will continue to appear in the Broadcom Support Portal > My Entitlements and My Licensing licensing portal. Brownfield customers running NSX versions prior to NSX 4.1.2.3 do not need to take any additional "License Downgrade" actions in the Broadcom Support Portal, since the component keys supporting NSX 3.2 and above are already available in their portal. Please refer to the feature and edition guide for details.
When customer purchases this offer, the following license keys will be available in their portal:

When running NSX 4.1.2.3 and above, only the solution key should be assigned as all vDefend Firewall features are unlocked by the solution key.
When customer purchases this offer, the following license keys will be available in their portal:

VMware vDefend Distributed Firewall with Advanced Threat Prevention |
VMware vDefend Gateway Firewall with Advanced Threat Prevention |

When running NSX 4.1.2.3 and above, only the solution key should be assigned as all vDefend Firewall features are unlocked by the solution key.
When customer purchases this offer, the following license keys will be available in their portal:

When running NSX 4.1.2.3 and above, only the solution key should be assigned as all vDefend Firewall features are unlocked by the solution key.
In certain cases, the customer may apply the appropriate component key to enable the component feature instead of the solution key. The combination of the three component keys will unlock the features equivalent to the solution key. Please refer to the feature and edition guide for component feature details.

Component keys are supported starting from NSX 3.2. Downgrades into versions prior to NSX 3.2 are not available for these component features.
