Unable to apply new certificate to the Local Manager service

Issue/Introduction

• You have a new certificate for use in VMware NSX. The certificate could be CA-signed or self-signed.
• You have successfully applied the certificate to the Manager Cluster or API services in VMware NSX. 
• When you attempt to apply the certificate to the Local Manager service, you receive the following error:
  
  Not allowed to apply a client service-type LOCAL_MANAGER to a certificate already used as a server certificate.

Environment

VMware NSX 4.1.2.0 or higher

Cause

The Local Manager service cannot share a certificate with the Management Cluster or API services.

Resolution

Ensure that a different certificate (CA-signed or self-signed) is used for the Local Manager service from what is used for the Management Cluster or API services.
