Issue/Introduction

  • Bare Metal Edge installation fails at the "Select and install software" phase.

       

  • The server's hardware clock is out of date.
  • Select [Continue] > [go to shell] in the error screen above the UI to start shell, and if you check the /var/log/syslog you will see the following message:

Environment

VMware NSX-T Data Center

Cause

This occurs when the hardware clock is old due to a hardware failure or other reason.
The installation process fails because the system clock, which is set at boot time based on the hardware clock, is out of date.

Resolution

Correct the hardware clock of the server to be installed.
