Agent already exists error when trying to register Usage Meter 4.8 to VMware Cloud Console Portal

Issue/Introduction

When trying to register Usage Meter 4.8 to VMware Cloud Console Portal, you see the below error:

"Could not register this agent, please try again. If the issue persists please report it. Agent with ID xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxaxxxxx already exists."

Environment

VMware vCloud Usage Meter 4.8

Cause

You see this error because the Usage Meter was not unregistered from the old VMware Cloud Provider Commercial Portal (VCP) before the portal was discontinued on May 5, 2024

Resolution

Since this Usage Meter with UUID xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxaxxxxx is already registered on the cloud, you need to redeploy the Usage Meter to be able to register it on the new Cloud Console Portal for metering
