Issue/Introduction

Backup operation failed for SDDC Manager System Configuration can fail when large files are stored in the "/opt/vmware/vcf/" directory and its sub directories.

Environment

VCF 4.x

VCF 5.x

Cause

The "/opt/vmware/vcf/" directory and its sub directories are intended for SDDC Manager configuration files. 

Large files (e.g. log bundles) uploaded or created at this location will cause the Backup operation to timeout at step: "BackupSDDCManagerConfiguration".

Resolution

Remove large unexpected files from the "/opt/vmware/vcf/" directory and its sub directories.
