Issue/Introduction

The Tomcat Service won’t auto start / won’t run as a Service – 

The Event Viewer shows The Apache Tomcat 8.0 Tomcat8forCAOMWebViewer12 service terminated with the following service-specific error: 

Incorrect function. event ID = 7024
 



Mismatched system and application components (64bit vs. 32Bit) may be behind this problem

Environment

MS Windows Server

Resolution

Reinstall components first to make sure you have 64bit Windows, 64bit Tomcat, and 64bit java. Then delete and reinstall the Tomcat service and it should work.  
 
  1. From the Command prompt, running as administrator, go to the <installation dir>/tomcat/bin directory.
  2. Enter the following command: service.bat remove
  3. When it completes, Enter the following command: service.bat install

Additional Information

Workaround – Manually restart the service every morning
