How to update the networking properties using vAPP options for Usage Meter.

Issue/Introduction

To update the options: IP address, Subnet, Netmask, Gateway, Domain name, HTTP Proxy, Host prefix, DNS servers, DNS search path, Network name.

Environment

VMware vCloud Usage Meter 4.x

Cause

The Properties pane contains a list of all the properties that are defined for a vApp.

 

Resolution

Procedure:

  • Power off the Usage Meter VM 
  • Navigate to a vApp in the inventory.
  • On the Configure tab, select Settings >vAPP properties.
  • The Properties pane shows the list of properties and the permissible actions.
  • Select your task by clicking the respective button 

Option

Description

Add

Creates a new property.

Important: If the virtual machine is connected to a distributed switch and has the vApp option enabled, you cannot select any of the following Dynamic property options: IP address, Subnet, Netmask, Gateway, Domain name, HTTP Proxy, Host prefix, DNS servers, DNS search path, Network name.

Edit

Edits the property. You can change the general information for the property, such as the property label, category and description. You can also edit the type parameters.

Important: If the virtual machine is connected to a distributed switch and has the vApp option enabled, you cannot select any of the following Dynamic property options: IP address, Subnet, Netmask, Gateway, Domain name, HTTP Proxy, Host prefix, DNS servers, DNS search path, Network name.

Set Value

Sets a value for the property. That value is different from the default value that you define when you create a new property.

Delete

Removes a property from the list.
