Can I Print a Dataset from a Browse or Edit session using File Master Plus?

Currently File Master Plus can’t print a dataset from within the editor (Option 2 - EDIT) or the browser (Option 1 - BROWSE).

File Master Plus does have a PRINT option on its main panel.  This is an overview of the PRINT functionality (Option 4):

If the “Execution mode” is set to “S”, a job will be submitted to do the actual print after all screens have been processed.

When printing a data set, a pop-up can be shown that allows one to add JES to the job to route the output to local printers, print datasets name, and other print job options:

 

Here, the user can fill in whatever is needed.  The caveat is that the above pop-up is shown only if in SETUP option 0.1, “Confirm print class & destination” is set to “Y”:

The default for “Confirm print class & destination” is controlled by CAWAOPTS parameter ONL_CONFPCD.  Its default value is “Y”.

Currently, when one enters PRINT in a browse or edit session one gets the message that only the physical screen was printed:

 

In order to PRINT a dataset that is being browsed or edited:

• If one is in an EDIT session, save your changes made to the dataset.
• Hit PF3 twice to leave the EDIT or BROWSE session and return to the MAIN MENU.
• Select OPTION 4 to PRINT the dataset.
• Select OPTION 1 - BROWSE or OPTION 2 - EDIT to continue your session.
