Issue/Introduction

Problem: 

 

After re-imaging machine and reinstalling SCM client, getting an error message when trying to login "Required storage module not available to read"

 

Environment:  

 

SCM Workbench Client on Windows platform, versions 12.0 and later

 

Cause: 

 

The problem is that Workbench is trying to save the Eclipse "keyring" file (.eclipse\org.eclipse.equinox.security\secure_storage) to a default location for which you do not have read/write permissions.

 

Resolution:

The solution is to move this file to another location. Here’s how:

In Windows Explorer, navigate to the folder where SCM is installed and open the “workbench.ini” file in Notepad. Then add the following 2 lines as the first 2 lines in the file, before the “-vmargs” line:

-eclipse.keyring
C:\Temp\.eclipse\org.eclipse.equinox.security\secure_storage

(if you want a different location for this file, just change the second line above to reflect the folder and file name of your choice.)

Save and close the file and then stop and restart Workbench.
