Issue/Introduction

Is Librarian zIIP/zEDC/ Crypto Coprocessor eligibile?  If so, is there software we should purchase and can we measure usage?

Resolution

 CA Librarian is not zIIP eligible.

 CA Librarian does the following with zEDC:

1. zEDC will compress Librarian Wide Record Master Files that are PDS format.

2. zEDC will not compress Librarian Wide Record Master Files that are PDSE format.

3. zEDC will not compress traditional BDAM and VSAM Librarian Master Files. 

 

     zEDC eligible – System must meet the requirements:
IBM zEnterprise zEDC12 GA2 zBC12 z13 or later
z/OS V2R1 or later
One of the following PFTs:
z/OS 2.4: UJ00636 
z/OS 2.3: UJ00635 
z/OS 2.2: UJ00638
Must have zEDC Express Adapters
zEDC Express software must be enabled in an IFAPRDxx parmlib

 

There is no software you would need to purchase.

There is currently no way to measure the usage of zEDC.

 

 Crypto Coprocessor is completely transparent to Librarian.  The operating system does all the work based on how it is configured for the system.
