Issue/Introduction

Does Broadcom recommend having a scheduled weekly/monthly/quarterly restart for Clarity services for best performance / improved stability / regular maintenance?

Environment

Any Supported Clarity Releases

Resolution

  • Clarity does not require a scheduled restart and can perform well long term without any interruption
    • Planned maintenance restart is not required for Clarity, and in most cases not needed
  • Some customers have found that having a regular scheduled downtime such as Monthly Clarity services reboot for OS patching helps their system to behave in a more stable way.
    • Some OS environments require regular patching for optimal server performance which will also impact Clarity running on this machine
    • As such Clarity services restart is something that can be done on weekly/monthly/quarterly cadence, outside of work hours as a part of regular Maintenance for On Premise systems and combined with OS patching and complete server reboot when necessary
    • In some rare situations it may also be recommended by Broadcom Support to remedy a specific product issue - in this case you should follow the recommendations provided by the Broadcom Support Engineer
