Issue/Introduction

It’s important to note that certain applications running within a virtual machine (VM) may be bound to the UUID (Universally Unique Identifier) of that VM. This binding can affect licensing, configuration, and functionality, making it crucial to know how to find the UUID when needed.

This article will guide you through the steps to locate the UUID of a VM, ensuring that you can effectively manage your applications and their dependencies.

Why UUID is Important:

  1. Licensing: Some applications may require the UUID for license validation, ensuring compliance with software agreements.
  2. Configuration: Certain configurations or settings may rely on the UUID for proper functioning within the virtual environment.
  3. Support: In case of issues, support teams may request the UUID for troubleshooting purposes.

Environment

vCenter Server

vSphere ESXi

Resolution

Browse via the following:  https://ESXihostname/mob/?moid=ha-folder-vm
