Conditions for changing the Failover Mode

Issue/Introduction

Below error message can be observed while changing the Failover mode (Preemptive / Non-Preemptive) on T0 Gateway.

"Modification of fail-over mode is not allowed after tier-0 is deployed"

Environment

VMware NSX

VMware NSX-T Data  Center

Cause

Failover mode of a Tier-0 gateway can only be changed in certain circumstances.
Failover mode change is not allowed if the following services or features are configured.

• Tier-0 VRF gateways

The design is to inherit the Failover mode of the parent Tier-0 gateways.

Resolution

To change the failover mode, Tier-0 VRF gateways will need to be deleted.
