Can't connect to mysql

Issue/Introduction

I can't connect to mysql on the Portal server.  The error I see is "ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' (2)"

 

Environment

DxNetOps Performance Management any version

Cause

All files, including the mysql.sock and mysqlx.sock were deleted from /tmp

Resolution

See the following knowledge article:

Restarting services in DxNetOps

• Stop all Portal services including mysql
• Start myql and confirm it is running
• Restart Portal Services

This will put the mysql.sock and mysqlx.sock back in /tmp and you should now be able to successfully connect to mysql
