Issue/Introduction

In View, a database extent was attempted to be added using SARDBASE ADDDS, and the message received was:

 SARDBI01 - Index file allocation failed for view_hlq - ERROR=4714 INFO=041D DS=nnn

Cause

Insufficient contiguous space available on volume requested. 

Resolution

Message "SARDBI01 - Index file allocation failed for view_hlq - ERROR=4714 INFO=041D DS=nnn" is generated when there is not enough contiguous space on the volume requested.

Allocating sufficient contiguous space that is available on a volume will resolve the problem.
