Some user may found in gpdb master logs, there are lots of log messages like
"send dummy packet failed, sendto failed: Cannot assign requested address"
From end user side, they may not face any actual issue, just the log file frequently generate this kind of message.
All Greenplum releases before 6.28.1 and 7.3.3
Sending dummy packets to Interconnect is part of normal operation done to exit the listener. It is not critical and not usually part of hanging issues.
However, this error occurs because of address space exhaustion; meaning the available pool of IP addresses within a specific address space is depleted.
Recommendation is to upgrade to latest 6.x or 7.x release if not at least to the release 6.28.1/7.3.3 which has the fix to resolves these warnings
