Issue/Introduction

A failed hard disk was being replaced and the system rebooted.  During POST, the system indicated a memory DIMM reported a correctable ECC error.

Cause

This could have been caused by static or just a random coincidence.

Resolution

This was a correctable ECC error and it corrected itself. The DIMM could have been reseated in case it was an oxidized edge connector, but this may not be necessary if the system comes up normally, fully populated.

The system will run properly once the error is corrected.
