Issue/Introduction

In times of 14.3 was allowed to upgrade the vm tools of Virtual Appliances but now under 14.5 this is not being possible. How can lastest vmtools in Virtual Appliance?

Environment

Vapp 14.5

Cause

In the past (version 14.3) was available the alias install_vmware_tools that was used to install vmware tools from mounted cdrom drive containing a vmware tools installation media or from an iso file (suppiled as an argument on the command line)

Resolution

in the actual version when published this article (14.5 sp1) we provide via latest CP OS patch the open-vm-tools-12.4.5.1.el9.x86_64 (can check with command line rpm -qa  | grep vm-tools)
