VMware Tools Guest Operations fail with error InternalError: java.lang.reflect.InvocationTargetException - Orchestrator

Issue/Introduction

• Cannot perform any Guest Operations on deployed VMs' Guest OS due to issue with vSphere Plugin on Aria Orchestrator / VCF Operations Orchestrator.
• Guest operations can include, but are not limited to, those such as File-Based Guest Operations or Process-Based Guest Operations, as outlined in the below documentation:

  • Guest Operation Processes Workflows

• You may see errors in /var/log/services-logs/prelude/vco-app/file-logs/vco-server-app.log such as:
  

  ERROR | ####-##-## | com.vmware.pscoe.library.guestops.Guest ] Guest operation failed with error: Could not create folder under guest at 'c:\#########\#######' : InternalError: java.lang.reflect.InvocationTargetException (Dynamic Script Module name : ########) at Dynamic Script Module name : #####:##(#######) at Dynamic Script Module name : #####:##

Environment

• Aria Automation 8.18.1
• Aria Orchestrator 8.18.1
• vCenter Server 8 / 9
• VCF Operations Orchestrator 9.1.0

Cause

Regression introduced when fixing workflow scheduling issue.

Resolution

Install attached plugin version specific to the environment version 8.18.1 or 9.1.0.

For Version 8.18.1:

1. Before proceeding, take a snapshot of the Orchestrator instance.
2. To resolve the issue, Install the attached vSphere plugin (o11n-plugin-vsphere-8.1.1+24070852.zip) by following the steps outlined in the Install, update, or delete a plug-in

For Version 9.1.0:

1. Ensure a backup of VCF Operations Orchestrator has been taken
2. To resolve the issue, Install the attached vSphere plugin (o11n-plugin-vsphere-9.1.0.0402+25663613.vmoapp) by following the steps outlined in the Install, update, or delete a plug-in

Additional Information

• If you face errors similar to:
  

  Plug-in 'VC' (8.1.1 build 24147893) already exists and has equal or newer version than (8.1.1 build 24070852). Keeping existing plug-in.

• Please take the following action:

  1. Take snapshot of the environment (all Aria Automation or Orchestrator nodes).

  2. Delete the Out of The Box vCenter Plugin completely.

  3. Apply the Plugin attached to the KB.
