Error "The VMware Cloud Director entity *** does not exist" while deleting vAPP template from VCD

Issue/Introduction

• while trying to remove a vAPP template from the VCD UI you get the following error: "The VMware Cloud Director entity *** does not exist"
• the catalog in front of the vAPP template is blank

Environment

VMware Cloud Director 10.X

Cause

This issue is caused by the fact that the vAPP template object exists on vcd but no longer is mapped to a correct Catalog

Most likely there were create and delete operation made directly on vcenter which made stale entries to persist on vcloud 

Resolution

Manual db intervention is needed in order to remove the entries
