Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

  • vCenter performance may be impacted when there are too many invalid login attempts by a service account.
  • You may see the following entries in the vpxd.log file:

vpxd-svcs connection pool is exhausted

Error occurred checking permissions for [urn:vmomi:Folder:group- with userName= VSPHERE.LOCAL\ groups= [DOMAIN.LOCAL

Failed to verify permissions from authorization Service for DOMAIN.LOCAL

Environment

VMware vCenter Server 7.x

VMware vCenter Server 8.x

Cause

When a service account continues to authenticate to the vCenter Server, but these authentication attempts fail, vCenter Server performance may become slow/degraded.

Resolution

Ensure that service accounts are able to properly authenticate to the vCenter Server.

To ensure that service accounts are able to properly authenticate to the vCenter Server:

  • Confirm the password provided to the service account is correct and has not been changed.
  • Verify the service account has the proper permissions.
