Issue/Introduction

  • Click on Infrastructure Resources in VMware Cloud Director UI and click on vCenter instance and try editing anything inside the vCenter instance. You will get an error:
"message": "[ ########-####-####-####-####44e2 ] vCenter's UUID doesn't match with the entry in database. This is a new vCenter server. Updates are not allowed. You need to register this as a new vCenter server."

  • Even if you have NSX-V manager attached to the vCenter instance in VCD and you want to remove the NSX manager using API you will receive the same error as mentioned above.

Environment

VMware Cloud Director 10.5.x

Cause

The vCenter UUID from the vCenter mob and the vCenter UUID from the VMware Cloud Director Database are different.
