Issue/Introduction

Custom configurations have been added to the cfg.ini file and there is concern that upgrade of the sensor will default the cfg.ini file and wipe out the additional settings.

Environment

  • Carbon Black Cloud Linux Sensor: All Supported Verisons
  • Linux OS: All Supported Versions

Resolution

Upgrading the CB Cloud Linux sensor via the CB Console does not change or replace the cfg.ini file and custom configurations remain static.

Additional Information

However; if using a 3rd party tool for upgrade and the process includes an uninstall and then reinstall of the CBC sensor, that will remove all configurations on disk. There are additional details about the cfg.ini file in the User Guide.
