Issue/Introduction

Virtual Machine RI Optimizer data not available for both 1Yr and 3Yr term .
However, there are recommendations under "Commitment Discounts".

We know that the Azure Commitment Discounts tool pulls recommendations via a specific Azure API, which is also used to populate the Virtual Machine RI Optimizer tab.
But in this case, the Virtual Machine RI Optimizer data is blank .

 

Resolution

Azure Commitment Discounts and Virtual Machine RI Optimizer do not use the same API.
Commitment discounts uses the Azure Recommendations API and VM Optimizer is our own internal algorithm for recommendations.
Commitment discounts defaults to single account scope if there are no valid shared accounts.

VM Optimizer doesn't do that.

Customer just needs to switch to single account scope and they will see recommendations.
