Issue/Introduction

This article explains how licenses are utilized in embedded adapters that do not require specific licenses for configuration.

Environment

Aria Operations 8.x

Resolution

  • Default adapter instances do not require dedicated licenses to operate. However, their resource usage will be counted against the overall Aria Operations license.
  • A license is necessary to monitor the data collected from the objects managed by the adapter instance.
  • Some of the default embedded adapters include vSphere, vSAN, NSX-T, and vRealize Automation.

Example: Licensing for NSX-T Integration in Aria Operations:

    • As NSX-T is a default embedded adapter, no special license is needed for its integration within Aria Operations.
    • Once integrated, objects collected via NSX such as edge gateways, logical routers, and load balancer etc require licenses for data collection. If a license is not applied to any of the objects collected by NSX-T adapter, then a "License is Invalid" watermark will appear in the UI when accessing them.
