Issue/Introduction
This article explains how licenses are utilized in embedded adapters that do not require specific licenses for configuration.
Environment
Aria Operations 8.x
Resolution
Default adapter instances do not require dedicated licenses to operate. However, their resource usage will be counted against the overall Aria Operations license.
A license is necessary to monitor the data collected from the objects managed by the adapter instance.
Some of the default embedded adapters include vSphere, vSAN, NSX-T, and vRealize Automation.
Example: Licensing for NSX-T Integration in Aria Operations:
As NSX-T is a default embedded adapter, no special license is needed for its integration within Aria Operations.
Once integrated, objects collected via NSX such as edge gateways, logical routers, and load balancer etc require licenses for data collection. If a license is not applied to any of the objects collected by NSX-T adapter, then a "License is Invalid" watermark will appear in the UI when accessing them.
