HCX - Unable to view ELM vCenter inventory when creating HCX Compute Profile

Issue/Introduction

• HCX Manager (cloud/destination) has 1 vCenter specified in the respective 9443 page. 
• When creating the HCX Compute Profile, the user only sees inventory from the vCenter specified on the 9443 page even when this vCenter is in Enhanced Linked Mode with 2 or more vCenter servers.

Cause

• HCX requires a 1 to 1 mapping with vCenter regardless of source/destination (connector/cloud) sites.
• HCX documentation only references a 1 to 1 relationship on source/connector sites - Understanding the Appliance Management Dashboard

 

Resolution

If you wish to migrate inventory to/from vCenters not listed in the HCX 9443 page (regardless of Enhanced Linked Mode state) you must deploy HCX Manager in a 1 to 1 ratio to migrate workloads from each respective vCenter.
