Issue/Introduction

When VMs are being deployed on vRA, the deployment failed due to resource issue.

In Aria Operations,

  • "Time Remaining" returns 0 days result.
  • "Disk Space Remaining" returns 0% available.

Environment

Aria Operations 8.18

Cause

The issue is caused by a predefined 2 hours resource reservation on Aria Automation (vRA).

When a deployment is initiated from vRA, vRA set a reserve for the additional disk space needed for 2 hours, doubling the required deployment space.  When multiple clusters existed in vRA Cloud Zone, this reservation will be placed on the assigned Datastore.  When additional deployment happens, the resource allocation will be recalculated, and the VM will be assigned to the datastore with the available resources.  This 2 hours reservation is separate on top of the configured buffer to ensure the cluster resources is not being over allocated.

Because of the 2 hours reservation, the additional disk space resource becomes less available for Aria Operations to perform the Advanced Workload Placement.

Resolution

The Resolution involves manually updating the reservation expiration time on the Aria Automation Appliance, kindly contact Broadcom Support for the same
