sybase probe alarms are not always clearing as expected

Issue/Introduction

We are monitoring sybase Databases with the sybase probe in DX UIM. The alarms generated by the probe are not cleared as expected all the time. 

For example, when a DB is unreachable, we get the "Cannot connect to DB xxx" correctly. However, when the DB is up and running again, sometimes it sends a clear and the alarm is cleared. But some other times is not clearing the alarm even though the DB is reachable. 

Why does this happen? 

Environment

• DX UIM 20.4.*/ 23.4.*
• sybase probe 4.32
• cluster probe any version

Cause

If the monitored sybase databases are clustered and configured to be managed by the cluster probe, this behaviour is expected since the cluster probe does not currently support the sybase probe [as of October 2024].

Resolution

As the cluster probe does not support the sybase probe, consider if the sybase_rs Sybase Replication Server monitoring probe can serve for your monitoring porpoises:
