Issue/Introduction

  • The VCF bring-up job fails to join NSX managers to form a management cluster.
  • Error in vcf-bringup-debug.log
    ERROR [c.v.e.s.o.model.error.ErrorFactory,pool-2-thread-16] [TCHDG3] JOIN_NSXT_MANAGER_FAILED Failed to join NSX managers to form a management cluster.
    com.vmware.evo.sddc.orchestrator.exceptions.OrchTaskException: Failed to join NSX managers to form a management cluster.

Environment

VMware Cloud Foundation 5.2

Cause

This issue could be caused by the wrong size selection for the NSX Manager virtual appliances in Deploy Parameters Worksheet.

Resolution

Increase Memory on NSX-T Manager Nodes.

Follow the below steps:

  1. Connect to the Management Domain vCenter Server.
  2. Search for the NSX Manager Nodes and open the console. Here you will notice memory related warnings.
  3. Increase the memory resources on all three NSX Manager nodes according to the NSX Manager VM Resource Requirements.

  4. Then re-try the deployment job from the cloud builder.
