Special characters breaking authentication with My VMware depot in SDDC Manager -Updating Online Depot User credentials fails with Error Updating depot user credentials failed. Depot Invalid User Credential

Issue/Introduction

• Able to successfully authenticate to the support.broadcom.com portal
  
  
• Get the following error when trying to authenticate to the My VMware Depot.
  SDDC Manager UI >> Administration > > Online Depot
  Updating depot user credentials failed. Depot Invalid User Credential: 

  
• Unable to authenticate to the depot with curl the below command get a HTTP/1.1 401 Unauthorized response.
  curl -kv https://depot.vmware.com:443/PROD2/evo/vmw/index.v3 -u depotusername

Cause

The investigation into this issue is ongoing but at this time we have identified that apart from alphabets and numbers the following characters are accepted:

! # $ / % ' & ( ) * + - . : ; , = ? @ [ ] ^ _ ` { } | ~

Resolution

Reset the password here and remove the invalid special characters from the password.
