Issue/Introduction

  • An error message is encountered when attempting to add an item to the Catalog policy in VMware Aria Automation (vRA) in version 8.18.0: entitledUsers[0].items: Expected an array of unique items.
  • This occurs when trying to add a duplicate item, previously handled without error in earlier versions of vRA.

Environment

  • VMware Aria Automation 8.x

Cause

  • The issue was verified in vRA version 8.18.0, where adding duplicate catalog items causes the error above, whereas prior version, duplicate items were simply ignored without generating an error.
  • The error is a result of a newly introduced validation rule in version 8.18.0, which enforces the uniqueness of items within the entitledUsers array in the Catalog policy.

Resolution

  • The issue has been confirmed to be resolved in vRA version 8.18.1.
  • Upgrading to version 8.18.1 will resolve the error when adding duplicate catalog items.
