VMware NSX

Issue/Introduction

  • The environment is running NSX with VLAN Segments configured
  • After VLAN segment creation, and connecting VM's to these segments through VC, you see network showing as "inaccessible"

Environment

VMware NSX

Cause

This can happen for the reasons below:

  • VLAN TZ is not applied to this Segment and only an Overlay TZ is applied
  • The hosts in the cluster within NSX are not all showing as being applied to this TZ.

Resolution

  • Verify that VLAN TZ is applied to this VLAN segment
  • Confirm which Hosts the TZ is applying to within the cluster under Networking>Transport Zones

Apply a Transport Node Profile to the Host cluster
    • Create a TNP under System > Fabric > Hosts > Transport Node Profile > Add Transport Node Profile.
    • Input all required details for VDS, VC, and TZ's making sure to add the Overlay and VLAN TZ's to this TNP
    • Select Radio to select the entire cluster under System>Fabric>Hosts that you want to apply this TNP to
    • Click Configure NSX and select the newly created TNP
    • Confirm the TZ is being applied to all hosts now under Networking>Transport Zones
    • Connect VM's in VC to this VLAN Segment and you shouldn't see the "inaccessible" error anymore.
