Not able to trigger vRO workflow actions in Aria operations 8.18.

Issue/Introduction

  • Error "User does not have the privilege for the action Assign" appears while trying to trigger vRO workflow actions.
  • vRO workflows are not triggered as a recommendation for an Alert in Aria Operations despite being defined in Alert recommendations.

 

Environment

Aria operations 8.18.x

Cause

Execution of vRO workflow fails due to user privileges. 

Analytics log:

ERROR [Automated actions worker thread 4]  com.vmware.vcops.controller.data.utils.action.ActionPopulationHelper.hasPrivileges - User does not have the privilege for the action xxxxxxxx. Privilege key = xxxxxxx-OrchestratorAdapter-VirtualMachine

Resolution

This issue has been reported as a bug and will be fixed in Aria operations 8.18.2 Hotfix.

Additional Information

Note: Following configurations must be checked as well. 

  1. vRO adapter instance is compatible with Aria Operations. Please refer product compatibility guide.
  2. Automation should be enabled for the specific alert definition in question in the Active policy.
  3. You are able to run vRO workflow manually.
  4. You are able to view workflow under Recommendation section for specific Alert definition. 
  5. Validate that the action is listed under action list for Virtual machine when alert triggers.
