SNMP adapter failing to display custom metrics from loaded custom MIBs

Issue/Introduction

  • The SNMP adapter uses MIB files to determine the metrics to collect from a particular device. When you install the SNMP adapter, the installation utility places a set of standard MIB files in the conf/mib folder. With SNMP adapter, metrics are created using MIB as the base object. Metrics are created only for the OIDs that Management Pack supports. These metrics are then monitored for all the devices that are attached with MIB file while configuring the adapter instance.

  • During the inventory collection process, the expected custom metrics and properties were not visible for the monitored device in Aria Operations. The collector.log indicated that the device was marked as not supported:

  • Despite being marked unsupported, the Aria Operations Collector engine initiated the collection process.

  • However, at the end of this process, it could not find the resources.

Resolution

The custom MIB metrics did not appear because its unsupported. It is recommended to refer to the List of MIBs in SNMP Adapter document to verify which MIBs are supported. Please reach out to the product vendor
