Issue/Introduction

• Mounting ISO/media to a VM in VMware Cloud Director fails with following errors:
  
  Error "[ xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxx ] The operation could not be performed because the device spec is invalid. Invalid configuration for device '0'. vCenter Server task (moref: task-xxxxx) failed in vCenter Server 'vCenter-hostname' (xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxx). - Invalid configuration for device '0'."
  
  
• Reconfigure virtual machine task in vCenter fails with following errors:
  
  
  
  
  

Environment

VMware Cloud Director 10.x
VMware vCenter Server 7.x
VMware vCenter Server 8.x

Cause

This issue occurs when the datastore containing the ISO is not visible to ESXi hosting the virtual machine.

Resolution

From vCenter server, grant datastore access to the ESXi host where media files are stored.
