Issue/Introduction

Internet traffic is routed via VCG even though business policy is configured to route the traffic via direct

Environment

VMware Velocloud SDWAN edge

Cause

Check the "gateway" setting under remote diagnostics and choose whether traffic destined to Internet should or should not use the Gateway Service.

By default, it is set as "Route per Business Policy". If business policy is configured to use multi-path (VCG) / direct / Backhaul, the traffic is routed as per business policy configuration.




However, if it is set as "Always use Gateway Service", Internet bound traffic will always be sent to VCG even though the business policy is configured to route the traffic via Direct.

Resolution

From "gateway" setting under remote diagnostics, select "Route per Business Policy"
