Unable to login to VMware Aria Operations for Networks - "Invalid username or password"

Issue/Introduction

When the 'admin' username is used to attempt to login to VCF Operations for Networks, the following error is displayed:  (Invalid username or password)

 

 

NOTE: VCF Operations for Networks was formerly called Aria Operations for Networks (AON), and previous to that, vRealize Network Insight (vRNI)

 

Environment

• VMware Aria Operations for Networks 6.12
• VMware Aria Operations for Networks 6.13
• VMware Aria Operations for Networks 6.14

 

Cause

The possible causes for this include:

1. The username being attempted may be "admin", and instead it should be "admin@local"
2. The password may be invalid.
3. If a number of previous unsuccessful attempts has reached a threshold, the account is locked out for a time. 

Resolution

Wait for a period of at least 15 minutes without trying any additional attempts.

Then, use "admin@local" as the username, and the password that you believe to be the correct one. 

If that is unsuccessful, please reach out to any colleagues in your organization that can normally access the application and ask them to try to access with the password you are using. 

If your colleagues are able to login using a different password than the one you have been using, then use that password and update your password records accordingly.
