probeDiscovery and udm_inventory queues growing

Issue/Introduction

probeDiscovery and udm_inventory queues are queuing up in your environment without any obvious reason

 

 

Environment

DX UIM 20.4.x, 23.4.x

Vmware probe

Cause

VMware probe generates the ctdGraphs with probe_discovery subject which goes to the probeDiscovery queue.

if the VMware probe's interval is set to some low value (for example 2min), it generates ctdGraphs every 2 minutes for all the VMware devices which could be the root cause of the continuously growing  discovery_server queue. Please find below the screenshot of DrNimbus showing the probe_discovery data generated by VMware probe :

Resolution

If the queue is growing a lot and causing problems in the environment, consider increasing the interval for the vmware probe.
