Issue/Introduction

When creating a search in CA Asset Portfolio Management (APM), after adding fields to the Search Criteria/Results and editing a Search Results label, the Edit Label window cannot be closed if the Search has not first been saved (see screenshot below).

If you attempt to close it by clicking the OK button, it briefly flashes, but does not close.

If you attempt to close it by clicking close (X), nothing happens.

The Escape (ESC) key does not work either and a web browser refresh does not work either.

It appears the only way to get past this is to click the web browser Back button or close the web browser and re-open it and then re-create the Search.

Notes:

1.  If you save the search before editing a Search Results label, the issue does not occur.

2.  If you edit a Search Criteria label without first saving, the issue does not occur.

Environment

CA Asset Portfolio Management (APM)/CA IT Asset Manager (ITAM) 17.x

Resolution

Broadcom Support is able to reproduce the behavior described.

We believe that this behavior has been in APM/ITAM for quite some time.

Use the following workaround: save a new search first and then always configure ON and rename the field labels.

Broadcom APM/ITAM Engineering agrees that this behavior needs to be resolved in a future APM/ITAM release.
