VMware SDDC Manager

Issue/Introduction

While using the offline bundle transfer utility Download an Install Bundle Using the Bundle Transfer Utility, the bundle upload fails with a similar error to the one listed below.

The OBTU(offline bundle transfer utility) error specifically mentions either an ALB or AVI bundle

The lcm-debug log in the SDDC manager is located here

/var/log/vmware/vcf/lcm/tools/debugtool/tmp/debuglog/lcmdebug.log

It will show a similar error to the one listed below

Uploading bundle: afee2b47-8f83-43c6-93c6-93bc-35b1f996e4e0

unexpected error occurred uploading bundle {"status": 400, "code": "bad request","message": "bundle_manifest_invalid; bundle manifest parsing error: /opt/vmware/vcf/lcm/lcm-tools/PROD2/manifests/bundle-125047.manifest"}

Environment

Source VCF environment: 5.1.x & 4.5.2

Target VCF environment: 5.2.x

Cause

ALB(Advanced Load Balancer) and AVI bundles require the SDDC manager version to be at least version 5.2

Resolution

      1. Clean up all bundles from the location on the SDDC where they are stored .
        1. You can do this with the following KB (Bundle Cleanup Utility)
      2. Clean up all bundles from the download location on the internet connected workstation hosting the OBTU.
      3. Re-download ONLY THE BUNDLES REQUIRED FOR THE PLANNED UPGRADE.
      4. Note that the OBTU allows you to specify specific bundles in a comma separated list when downloading.
      5. Retry the upload task (step 11 in Download an Install Bundle Using the Bundle Transfer Utility)
