Issue/Introduction

During the upgrade process on SDDC Manager, an error occurred preventing the upgrade from proceeding as expected. The specific error message received was: "Reason is: In Create Input Spec Stage, vCenter precheck failed while attempting to get cluster name for vCenter. Unable to add cluster name to input spec."

Environment

VMware Cloud Foundation 5.x 

Cause

vCenter VM display name changed out of band. 

Resolution

1. Log into the vSphere Client.
2. Navigate to the vCenter VM. 
3. Edit the display name to match what SDDC Manager has. 
4. Retry the upgrade process after ensuring that all previous configurations are restored.

Ensure successful login to the vSphere client before proceeding with any operations related to the vCenter server.
