Issue/Introduction

Skyline Health may display a "No Healthy Upstream" message. This issue can prevent effective monitoring and management of the vCenter environment.

Environment

VMware vCenter Server 7.0 or newer

Cause

The "No Healthy Upstream" message in Skyline Health after a vCenter upgrade can be caused by the vSAN health service not starting properly, particularly during an upgrade process.

Resolution

To resolve the "No Healthy Upstream" issue in Skyline Health:

  1. Log in to the vCenter Server management interface.
  2. Navigate to the services section.
  3. Locate the vSAN health service in the list of services.
  4. If the vSAN health service is stopped, start it:
    1. Select the vSAN health service.
    2. Click the "Start" or "Restart" button (depending on the current state of the service).
  5. Wait for the service to start completely. This may take a few minutes.
  6. Once the service is running, return to Skyline Health.
  7. Verify that the "No Healthy Upstream" message has been resolved.

Additional Information

If the issue persists after starting the vSAN health service, consider the following troubleshooting steps:
  1. Check for and resolve any STS (Security Token Service) connection string issues.
  2. Investigate potential service registration duplications.
  3. Verify that all certificates are valid and properly configured.
