Changes to NSX-T failing after the restore of NSX-T

Issue/Introduction

NSX-T UI shows error message:

Write operations are temporary blocked (Error code: 401)

The compute manager / virtual center will likely show no issue for registration/connection status with NSX-T UI

Environment

VMware NSX

Cause

• NSX-T appliance restore requires healthy connectivity with the compute manager. The restore of NSX-T appliance without healthy communication with the VC server may cause write operation to fail. The following may cause issue for healthy connectivity between NSX-T and virtual center.
  • Network connectivity from NSX-T appliance to virtual center server
  • Name resolution issue
  • Mismatch of password (The password for the virtual center contained in NSX-T backup and the virtual center server current password are different)

Resolution

• Before the restore of the NSX-T appliance make sure 
  •  Network connectivity between the NSX-T appliance and virtual center server
  •  Matching password for the VC account.
